Control

The day the dog disappeared
Just one day in this dog of your life
House trained I leave no mess
If only I hadn’t the need to follow
I wouldn’t the need to lead
That day, the day the dog disappeared

Yet somehow he could not heed to your wishes
So like he’d tasted freedom
Somewhere in the bite of his own tempestuous feed
That day, the day the dog disappeared

This day, the day the dog went AWOL
Like he’d scorned to a boy a wagging finger
Tail pulsing obedience, obligatory generated commands
Where the fields lye widening
Were you predisposed to deceive and retrieve?
This day, the day the dog disappeared
This day
